Oct 11th, Happy Thanksgiving,  We are in  Shediac, New Brunswick. We got into New Brunswick yesterday after a long drive thru some very pretty country side.Quebec, once past Montreal, is very pleasant, with friendly people, good service and inexpensive. We took the ferry from Quebec City over to Levis on the south side of the St. Lawrence and then did the scenic route half way up the Gaspe Peninsula,  until we turned south at Rimouski, Quebec. There we spent another  night in a WalMart lot, sure does help with the accomodation expenses. Tried for a farmers market on Saturday morning but could not find one as good as the one we had in Ottawa. We travelled the scenic route from Campbellton NB to Bathurst and again stayed in a WalMart lot. There is a real shortage of campgrounds open at this time of the year. We did not stay long in Bathurst and headed out on the  Acadian Coast Drive, which was to take us through some interesting coastal villages along Chaleur Bay. We were very disappointed as everything here is shut down for the season, and actually, looking at the villages we went thru they really did not have a lot to offer. The homes are on large lots and well looked after and the fishing boats are out of the water and in the yards.  The country side is very pretty with the changing of the leaves, but it is cool. Today we did not have rain so it was a nice drive. It is interesting that the folks here are flying the French flag with a star in the upper corner, I think this must be the Acadian flag. I know they had a big celebration along this coast during August, so this could be the remainder of the decorations. Even the light poles are painted red, white and blue like the flag.
Tonight we are at Shediac on the coast of the Northumberland Channel, Prince Edward Island being across from here. We are in a nice park that offers wifi, nice showers and a laundromat for $25.00, you pay for the laundry.  Wolf bought our first lobster, and!!!!!! it was not very good. It was not tasty at all, think they ruined it when they cooked it. We were told that the lobster fishing is done for the season here in NB so this would be the last of the local product. Our west coast crab is far better. We will be heading for PEI or Nova Scotia tomorrow, still trying to figure that out. Will come back and do the bottom part of NB on the way to Maine.
